Maxine Waters Tells Jim Jordan ‘Shut Your Mouth’ During COVID-19 Hearing

During a congressional hearing on the coronavirus pandemic, Rep. Maxine Waters shut Republican Rep. Jim Jordan down after he kept talking past his allotted time.

“Your time expired, sir,” Waters said. “You need to respect the chair and shut your mouth.”

Waters’ clear message to the Ohio Republican came during the session which was called so lawmakers could discuss “a science-driven approach” to “swiftly and safely” bring an end to the coronavirus pandemic

Jordan had a heated, disrespectful exchange with Dr. Anthony Fauci, which Rep. Waters had to bring to an end

According to reports, Jordan kept asking Fauci misleading questions but wouldn’t even let the infectious disease expert answer, talking over Fauci and demanding answers at the same time.

“When do Americans get their freedom back?” Jordan asked. Dr. Fauci began to answer, “When we get the level of infections in this country low enough that it is not really high ––”

Jordan cut in, “What is low enough? Give me a number. We had 15 days to slow the spread turn into one year of lost liberty. What metrics, what measures, what has to happen before Americans get their freedoms back?”

Fauci couldn’t even answer the questions, before Jordan cut him off again.

While the nation works to expand vaccine outreach, especially among disproportionately impacted communities, new cases are on the rise.

Dr. Fauci was able to say in between Jordan’s demands that the US is still seeing about 60,000 infections a day. More than 564,000 people in the US have died from COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic last year.
