Tennis star Serena Williams has announced her comeback to the court.

On Tuesday (June 14), Williams took to Instagram to reveal her plans to compete at Wimbledon this month after pulling out of the tournament last year.

“SW and SW19. It’s a date. 2022 See you there. Let’s Go #renasarmy,” Williams captioned an Instagram post complete with a picture of her Nike sneakers on a grass court.

The 23-time Grand Slam champion previously hinted at her return to the Wimbledon court when speaking with Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers.

“We’ve been talking about my comeback and he’s been hyping me up and getting me ready for Wimbledon,” Williams said in a statement.

Last summer, Williams withdrew from Wimbledon just after the first round. The 40-year-old tennis pro sustained a leg injury in her match against Aliaksandra Sasnovich.

“I was heartbroken to have to withdraw today after injuring my right leg,” Williams said at that time. “My love and gratitude are with the fans and the team who make being on Centre Court so meaningful. Feeling the extraordinary warmth and support of crowd today when I walked on — and off — the court meant the world to me.”

Williams' Wimbledon comeback will be the first time she's competed in a tournament since her leg injury.
