According to People, Andrew Shue, Robach's former husband, and Marilee Fiebig, Holmes' former wife, formed a romantic connection as they bonded over dealing with splitting from their partners who found love with each other.
News of Robach and Holmes' romance first surfaced in November 2022. The two were accused of cheating on their partners as Robach hadn't confirmed her separation from Shue, nor Holmes with Fiebig.
That December, ABC News President Kim Godwin told the two that they were being "temporarily" taken off air as the company investigated their workplace romance. It was officially announced in January that Robach and Holmes wouldn't be returning to their GMA roles.
On the debut episode of their joint podcast, the pair addressed their GMA firing and denied cheating on their partners.
“November 30, 2022, was the day that we were, and this is very important we were outed.... To be clear, we were outed as being in a relationship, but everyone else thought we were being outed as adulterers — being outed as cheating on our spouses — and it wasn’t the case because the odd thing is, the day those pictures were taken and the day that article was released, we both at that point were in divorce proceedings," Holmes said during Tuesday's (December 5) podcast.
“Yes, we had attorneys, mediators. We were in the middle of divorces,” Robach added.
“We shouldn’t have allowed — [and] I can say that in hindsight — for folks to find out about our relationship before they found out about our divorces," Holmes said.
Holmes and Fiebig settled their divorce in December 2022, while Robach finalized her divorce with Shue in March.
